    Public Health & Policy in the Southern States
    Region VI

    Thursday, April 10th at 12:00 pm


    Public Health & Policy in the Southern States will highlight the importance of policy to shape public health outcomes in Region IV states – Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico (TALON) – and provide professionals with tangible strategies to navigate today’s political landscape. Together, representatives from each TALON state will reflect on public health policy dynamics, front-burner policy issues, and lessons learned as policy leaders in their respective states. To situate TALON states in a national context, a federal public health policy expert will also share updates and state-level impacts on changing dynamics and funding at the federal level.

    Welcome to the 2025 NMPHA Annual Conference, "Preparation, Prevention, and Protection in Community: The Future of Public Health." Join us as we explore strategies to strengthen community resilience, advance health equity, and shape the future of public health in New Mexico. We look forward to learning, connecting, and taking action together!


    Our signature interactive virtual experience will feature keynotes, multiple options for learning sessions, thriving sessions, robust poster presentations, and networking opportunities. Via our virtual platform, Whova, we will offer myriad virtual features that will  connect with one another and learn together.


    Spanish interpretation, graphic recording, and closed captioning are provided. Continuing education credits will be provided, more details forthcoming.
